Kids Collect A Bumper Crop At Laid-back Egg Hunt

Sun shone on Wilson Park's delayed Easter event.

North Kingstown Recreation Director Al Southwick says that, had the town's annual Easter weekend scavenger hunt taken place as scheduled on Saturday, it could have been the usual frenzied affair.

"We've had a thousand kids," he recalled, bringing serious parking problems in and around Wilson Park.

But rain and cold temperatures pushed this year's event to Sunday afternoon. As a result, a crowd that Southwick estimated at 100 to 150 children enjoyed warm weather and plenty of room to roam as they collected plastic eggs – redeemable for a prize – and an assortment of wrapped treats.
