A longtime writer-editor for newspapers, magazines and Web sites, and an association executive (American Society of News Editors, Newspaper Association of America, Society for News Design), I moved to North Kingstown in 2004.

Roller-blading, wind-surfing and ziplines look like tons of fun, but what I actually do in my spare time is walk, preferably in a natural area; read biographies, history and mysteries (especially those by Meredith Cole); hang out with my family; and volunteer in small ways to improve the environment.
