Stalking Charge Against Ceresi Dropped

School Committee Vice Chairman Larry Ceresi faced a felony stalking charge after an incident in Lincoln last April, but the charges were dismissed.

A charge of stalking against School Committee Vice Chair Larry Ceresi for an incident in April was dismissed before the case went to court, according to Amy Kempe, spokeswoman for the state Attorney General's office.

Ceresi was arrested April 26 in Lincoln on a felony charge of domestic stalking relating to a text message he sent. It was the second time in just over a year he has faced charges. He faced three misdemeanor charges after an incident in 2012; those charges were also dismissed.

According to Kempe, the domestic stalking charge was dropped because the complainant refused to cooperate with the police.

Ceresi, 42, has been on the North Kingstown School Committee since 2006.

"The fact that the charges were never brought back before the court and that I was never even required to appear before a judge after the initial accusations were made speaks in volumes for itself," he said via email. "The police department, while very fair and professional, was responding to nothing more then an accusation with no facts or evidence to support it. I admittedly have made some poor choices over the past year and I have been and will continue to work hard to get myself in a better place for both myself and my family. I am thankful for those in the community who supported me and did not pass judgment on me until this matter was closed."
