Frank E. Austin, NKFD Ret., formerly of North Kingstown, born June 5, 1929, to the late Edward and Mollie Austin died at the age of 84 on July 11, at South County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Until February, he resided at the home of his son Frank for the last five years. Frank was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, the late Janice E. (Carpenter) Austin.
Frank served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, and was a firefighter for the North Kingstown Fire Department for 25 years. He also served as an EMT.
He is survived by two sons; Frank Austin and his wife Shelley of North Kingstown and James Austin of South Paris, Maine; three grandchildren, Seth and his wife Sabourin of South Kingstown, Jacob and his wife Vanessa of Warwick and Sarah Williams of North Kingstown; three great grand daughters and a brother Roy Austin of West Greenwich. He was the brother of late Edward and Gordon.
Funeral service Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Home & Hospice Care of R.I., 1085 N. Main St., Providence, R.I. 02904.
