ReplyTerrible idea. Let's not privatize our public resources. That Park n Ride is very useful and well located. CVS will be earning some very bad karma if they push the public elsewhere.

ReplyI only had enough recycling for biweekly pickup with the old bin. This thing will take 2 months to fill.

Reply1185 Ten Rod Rd. maps up as the park and ride outside Home Depot. Were there apartments there back then or is this a wrong address?

ReplyIRS tax returns are an incomplete picture of cost to live in a given place. The reality is that Rhode Island is the 7th most expensive state to live in ( http://www.cnbc.com/id/46413848/ ). And that of all the South County towns, North Kingstown has the highest combined taxes (combining the big 3: motor vehicle, residential & fire district). (data gleaned from www.riedc.com, www.riliving.com, www.muni-info.ri.gov ). I take the standard deduction on my taxes, so the IRS has absolutely no info on any of these town taxes from me. Nor, for that matter, do they have info on my charitable giving.

Reply"Beginning in June 2012, the state will be switching to a “single stream” method of recycling. A new scanning system will be in effect and will allow residents to put all recyclables in one bin with no separation of paper and plastics. Currently, the only plastics that are recyclable are from categories one and two.
When the new scanning system goes into affect, plastics from one through seven will be accepted."source: http://www.ricentral.com/content/nk-scores-big-profits-recycling-program

"no longer... qualify as affordable housing because they did not meet current standards". It would be interesting to know what standards they no longer meet. More info please...
