As the mercury pushes 100º today, we here at North Kingstown Patch thought we'd have some fun with the absurdly high temperatures. And by fun, we really mean we want you to make us laugh. In response, the National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch as high temperatures in the watch area are expected to range from 95 to 100 degrees, combined with high dew points, a heat index up to around 105 degrees is anticipated. The most critical period each day will be from about noon to about 8 p.m. Excessive heat to this extent occurs infrequently in this area, causing the population to be somewhat more vulnerable than the populations in many other locations to the south and southwest.
