Poll: How Should Rhode Island Fix The Pension Problem?
We want to know your thoughts on how to solve the state's looming pension crisis.
With the state General Assembly reconvening in a special legislative session starting today, Rhode Islanders are wondering what exactly state Treasurer Gina Raimondo will be proposing and how the GA and Governor Lincoln Chafee will respond. Raimondo has repeatedly said that everyone will have to be part of the solution - including those state and local workers who thought they’d already been contributing enough to their retirement fund and other residents who may face higher taxes to cover retirement plans more generous than they themselves are looking to receive. NOO!!!. I don't want an active attempt at pension reform. Pension reform is not to save money but to save the union. I say let the pension go on as is and let it fail completely. declare insolvancy and avoid the union suing the changes they want.   more ›
