Five things to know for Jan. 29.

1.  T-minus one week until the Super Bowl. We're doing a Super Bowl guide so if you know of a local business that's doing something for the big game, let us know! (...P.S. Go Pats!) 2. After postponing its last meeting due to a posting error, the North Kingstown Town Council returns this Monday night with a fairly loaded agenda. Notably, the council will hold public hearings on zoning district changes regarding a proposed village center at Rolling Greens Golf Course and on aproposed change to firefighters' schedules – moving them to 24-hour shifts. Monday's meeting kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at Beechwood Center. 3.  Do you know of a North Kingstown couple worthy of having their story told? Valentine's Day is around the corner and we're seeking…

Town Council Meeting Overview

A recap of the North Kingstown Town Council's decisions at Monday's meeting.

Motion to Not Increase Allen Harbor 2011 Boating Rates The council approved a motion based on a recommendation from the Leisure Services Advisory Committee to not increase Allen Harbor Marina's rates for the 2011 boating season.  The committee's report concluded that the marina's business is expected to produce a reasonable profit for 2011 and that other area marinas will be lowering their prices to combat a recent decline in recreational boating. Motion to Award Emergency Contract to Dome Construction Co. to Replace Roof at Wickford Elementary School A motion to award a roof replacement contract to Dome Construction Company was unanimously passed by the council to replace the 26-year-old roof membrane at Wickford Elementary School.  After…
