Council Delays Zoning District Changes
Council will consider public comments and the completion of a study on village centers before proceeding with changes to the town's zoning districts.
If changes to the town’s zoning districts come to fruition, it won’t be until next year. The North Kingstown Town Council chose to delay a decision on revisions to one of the town’s existing zoning districts as it awaits the completion of a study of village centers. The zoning district in question — a Compact Village District (CVD) — gained the spotlight this past summer as the town’s planning commission discussed a proposed village center development at Rolling Greens Golf Course. The project has met heavy opposition from area residents who are against commercial buildings in the area. I also voted for them expecting honesty. If you attend enough TC and Planning meetings you, too, will see what is happening. Too many people do not attend meetings until it is too late.
