The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for North Kingstown and most of West Bay for today and tonight. A weak cold front sweeping through New England is acting as a focus for rain with heavy downpours and isolated thunderstorms. Rainfall is expected at 1 inch per hour. A total rainfall of two inches is possible and may lead to urban flooding and small stream flooding, according to the NWS. Showers are likely, with a possible thunderstorm before 4 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after. Today will be cloudy, with a high near 80 degrees, and a west wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
The National Weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Rhode Island.

Officials with the National Weather Service are predicting severe weather today in Rhode Island from 4 to 8 p.m. as a storm system from Canada makes it way south. Some of the storms may be severe, with damaging winds as the primary threat. The storm's potentially torrential rainfall could result in flooding. Visibility will be poor on the roadways, officials warn. Those with outdoor plans (including those who thought today would be a swell day at the beach) should head inside or to a vehicle at the first sign of threatening weather.
