Rep. Doreen Costa may be taking in a kitten that was abused by a Central Falls custodian earlier this week.
An 8-month-old kitten that stole headlines earlier this week in the northern part of the state after a custodian reportedly kicked it across a school yard may already have a home. Just days after reading about the alleged case of cruelty, State Rep. Doreen Costa (R- District 31, Exeter and North Kingstown) made her way over to the Pawtucket Animal Shelter to file adoption papers. "I never go to the pound. This turned out to be a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.” North Kingstown's Rep. Laurence Ehrhardt spoke at the hearing because of reapportionment between he and Rep. Doreen Costa (R- Dist. 32, NK…

Although many state legislators will be taking a $223 raise this year, a handful of local delegates are saying no to the 1.6 percent raise – including two North Kingstown senators and one North Kingstown representative. State Senators James Sheehan (D- Dist. 36) and Dawson Hodgson (D- Dist. 35) and Representative Doreen Costa (R- Dist. 31) are all declining the legislative raise. "I know it's a very small raise but it's a symbolic gesture," said Hodgson, who is joined by the rest of his GOP caucus in the state senate in declining the pay raise. "We're trying to show some respect for folks that have worked hard for our community in the past and still do." "I ran on a platform of lower taxes and this is something I just had to do. It's just …
