NK Woman Pleads No Contest to Prostitution Charge
A woman who allegedly advertised her services on a website pleaded no contest to a charge of prostitution.
A North Kingstown woman charged with prostitution pleaded no contest this week in Kent County District Court. Shumika Gunter, 28, was allegedly prostituting herself out of her apartment on McConnell Court in North Kingstown. Police found an online advertisement for a woman named "Leslie" who described herself as "curvy sweet dark chocolate women [sic]" for men looking for a "sweet seductive companion." Officers cross-referenced the number in the ad with a previous investigation and determined the number belonged to Gunter.
