Man In NK Drug Bust Sentenced To 15 Years

The final man convicted in a large cocaine bust in North Kingstown has been sentenced.

  Andrew Rios, 41, of California, was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court to 15.5 years in federal prison on drug trafficking charges, in connection with the seizure of 65 kilos of cocaine and more than $1.2 million in cash in North Kingstown in 2011. U.S District Court Judge William E. Smith also ordered Rios to serve 5 years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term. Rios pleaded guilty on Oct. 1, 2012, to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and one count of possessing with the intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine. Utah Man Sentenced to 11 Years in NK Drug Bust

One of three men arrested after one of the largest cocaine seizures in state history has been sentenced.

  A Utah man has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison following his arrest last year in one of the largest drug busts in Rhode Island history. A federal judge sentenced Adilson A. Reyes, 31, to 135 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term. In April 2011, Reyes pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine.  Three months prior to his guilty plea, Reyes and his two accomplices (Armando Saucedo, 33, and Andrew Rios, 42, both of California) were arrested at a warehouse in North Kingstown off Dry Bridge Road where they were basing their drug trafficking operations. Coke Bust Suspect Alleges State Police Violated His Rights

An accused drug trafficker is charging that the State Police violated his rights by tracking his car via GPS without a warrant.

A California man accused of trafficking drugs into Rhode Island from Mexico is now saying that evidence seized by the State Police should be thrown out. Andrew Rios was one of three men arrested in January 2011 on charges of drug trafficking after police raided a warehouse unit in North Kingstown on Dry Bridge Road. The raid seized 66 kilograms of cocaine and roughly $1.2 million in cash – one of the largest drug busts in state history. Though the other two men arrested in the raid (Adilson Antonio Reyes of Utah and Rodrigo Armanda Saucedo of California) both pleaded guilty to the charges, Rios is challenging the federal and state governments' case against him.
