NK Police Log: Stop & Shoplifting, Second DUI & More

EG Man Charged With Shoplifting From Stop & Shop  Garrick Douglas Wann, 26, of 9 Bayberry Ln. in East Greenwich was arrested April 27 at 4:50 p.m. on charges of shoplifting. Wann was shopping at the Stop & Shop on Frenchtown Road when employees at the store noticed him acting suspiciously. Wann went up to the self checkout register with a carriage full of higher priced items, including batteries and health/beauty products, and was met by an employee who offered to help him bag his purchases. Halfway through, Wann allegedly asked the employee to void the transaction as he had forgotten something. Suspecting that Wann was trying to leave the store through a different exit, a manager waited outside the store and confronted Wann as he …

NK Police Log: Heroin Overdose and a Live Grenade

Stephanie Dawn Sousa, 21, of 293 Rodman Street in South Kingstown was arrested May 2 at 9:21 p.m. on a felony charge of narcotics possession. Sousa and two friends allegedly in a room at Kingstown Motel doing a mixture of drugs such as bath salts and heroin. Police responded to the room after one of Sousa’s friends reportedly overdosed on heroin. The man allegedly injected himself with heroin before turning blue and passing out. He regained consciousness at one point and told rescue crews that he did not do heroin that night. Sousa also denied doing heroin and told police that she only had injected herself with bath salts, according to reports. She allegedly told police that she frequently uses heroin, but not that night. NK Police Log: Woman Charged After Stealing Kitten

Michelle Lee Canfield, 42, of 6101 Post Rd., Unit 15 of North Kingstown was arrested April 29 at 11 p.m. on charges of disorderly conduct. Canfield allegedly stole a kitten from an acquaintance. She reportedly admitted to police that she stole the feline, telling officers the man was a “scumbag” and “shouldn’t have cats” when they visited her home. She and the homeowner both allegedly gave officers permission to search the home for the cat, but Canfield began to yell at the man accusing her of stealing the kitten when she realized he was parked down the street, according to reports. She yelled at police despite their warnings as officers continued to search for the cat. An officer allegedly found the 4-week-old kitten hiding behind a …

NK Police Log: Providence Man Charged in Hit-and-Run Accident

Daniel Taveras, 25, of 16 Opper Street, Apt. 3 in Providence was arrested April 26 at 12:22 a.m. on felony charges of failing to stop at an accident (injury resulting) and driving to endanger (injury resulting) and a misdemeanor charge of drunken driving. Taveras was allegedly driving under the influence when he attempted to pass a car on Old Baptist Road by crossing into the oncoming lane. According to reports, he lost control of the car and hit a tree and then, as he tried to drive away, hit a stone wall and several mailboxes. Witnesses told police that the passenger tried to stop Taveras from leaving and yelled at him for wrecking his car.   Video Games Can Cause Violence Eudomar Rosario, 19, of 30 Lennox in Providence was arrested April 23 at 10:15 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct. Rosario allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at her apartment in North Kingstown after the two argued about video games. According to the victim, she was forced to sleep on the couch because Rosario refused to stop playing games. An argument then ensued with Rosario allegedly punching her and throwing her to the ground. Gone Fishing Joshua R. LaLumiere, 26, of 360 Paradis Ave. in Woonsocket was arrested April 25 at 10:50 a.m. on charges of shoplifting and cited for possession of one ounce or less of marijuana. NK Police Log: Wrong-Way Driver Charged With DUI

  NK Teen Charged With Vandalism Justin Troy Kilgore, 18, of 172 Beach Street in North Kingstown was arrested April 17 at 12:15 p.m. on charges of vandalism. Kilgore allegedly threw a piece of asphalt through a neighbor’s garage door window, breaking the window and damaging the man’s vintage BMW motorcycle. The man told police it cost him $80 to fix the window and another $575 to repair the damage to his motorcycle. According to reports, the man saw Kilgore standing at the end of the driveway right after the alleged vandalism. Kilgore allegedly told the man he had caused the damage and that he didn’t mean to break the window. Bikini-Clad Man Charged With Disorderly Conduct, Willful Trespass

Daniel Christopher Downs, 54, of 6200 Post Rd., Unit 1A in North Kingstown was arrested April 14 at 10:40 a.m. on charges of willful trespassing and disorderly conduct. Downs allegedly began walking into neighbors’ yards around 8:30 a.m. He was allegedly screaming, cursing, flipping people off and throwing rocks at cars. According to two neighbors, he went into their yard and began yelling at them for not working. (One of the neighbors caught Downs on video during the incident.) When one neighbor said they were calling the police, Downs allegedly responded by saying that his cat knew more than the police. Narragansett Man Charged In Domestic Assault Jeffrey Souza, 20, of 109 Conanicus Rd. in Narragansett was arrested April 10 at 9:14 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct. Souza allegedly struck an 18-year-old woman following an argument. Souza fled the home before police arrived, but officers noted that the victim allegedly had red marks and bruising along both of her arms. Souza told police that the woman had attacked him first and the only physical contact he had with her was when he held her wrists in self-defense. NK Woman Charged With Second DUI Joann L. Peltier, 48, of 10 Brookside Drive in North Kingstown was arrested April 8 at 8:20 p.m. on charges of driving under the influence and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police initially pulled Peltier over after she was seen driving without headlights on and swerving in and out of her lane. According to reports, Peltier told police she was driving home after shopping at Kohl’s. She seemed confused and told police she did not know where she lived but that it was right down the road. Police asked her to perform a field sobriety test after smelling alcohol on her breath and noticing that she had issues maintaining her balance. NK Police Log: Woman Allegedly Chugs Wine Prior to Breath Test

Central Falls Man Charged With Domestic Assault Louis Antonio Lopez, 26, of 39 Darling Street in Central Falls was arrested April 7 at 4:35 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct. Lopez allegedly assaulted a 24-year-old woman at her apartment on Union Drive in North Kingstown. When police arrived at the apartment complex, the victim was in the hallway holding her 4-year-old daughter and crying. Police found Lopez leaving the apartment and, according to reports, Lopez became immediately defensive and said, “I didn’t do anything wrong!” According to the victim, Lopez began throwing items around the apartment.
