The NK Planning Commission discussed the newest version of The Commons at Frenchtown Road.
The North Kingstown Planning Commission got a look at the latest changes to a large-scale development that could potentially bring a significant amount of tax dollars…and negatively impact nearby water sources. Developers Paul Milhailides of Frenchtown Partners LLC is proposing the 33-acre shopping center, called The Commons at Frenchtown Road, that would be nestled between Frenchtown Road and Route 403 – adjacent to the former Brown & Sharpe property. About 10 acres of the center would be in East Greenwich with the remainder in North Kingstown. The latest version of the plan calls for a 132,000 sq. ft. big box store, two three-story 48,000 sq. ft. office buildings, a 12,900 sq. ft. pharmacy, an 11,480 sq. ft. building, a 10,450 sq. ft. …

The North Kingstown Planning Commission saw five different designs of what a village center at Rolling Greens would look like.
Developers for a controversial project at Rolling Greens Golf Course presented various layout designs to the North Kingstown Planning Commission on Tuesday night. Architect Don Powers presented five designs to the commission showing different configurations of the project's entrance and retail area. The project, put forth by developer Mark Hawkins, would bring up to 50,000 sq. ft. of commercial space and 106 housing units to the Route 2 and 102 intersection. Of the designs, the amount of retail in the development would vary between 32,000 and 50,000 sq. ft. Powers, however, favored one design in particular that would bring the maximum retail amount. In this design (marked as the "Main Street" design in the images above), the main strip…

The North Kingstown Town Council will not hold a public hearing on The Preserve at Rolling Greens.
The North Kingstown Town Council will not be discussing The Preserve at Rolling Greens tonight as it awaits a recommendation from the Planning Commission. The project, called The Preserve at Rolling Greens and located right on Ten Rod Road, is a mixed-use housing and commercial village center with 50,000 sq. ft. of commercial development and 106 housing units - more than the respective 35,000 sq. ft. of commercial and 92 residential units proposed in the last variation of the project’s master …

Following months of planning commission meetings filled with deliberations, delays and constant public input, the fate of a controversial village center zoning district has once again been pushed back. Residents expecting a public hearing on a controversial zoning district at Monday night’s North Kingstown Town Council meeting will have their say Tuesday night to share their thoughts. The North Kingstown Planning Commission will review and make a recommendation at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night at town hall. The CVD discussion began during planning commission meetings for a proposed village center at Rolling Greens Golf Course — named “The Preserve at Rolling Greens” — on Ten Rod Road. Since its initial meeting in December 2010, nearby residents have…

First of all Susan Ricardi should have known for quite some time that there are still develop-able properties in North Kingstown and there should have been planning done in the past to address these deficiencies. Second, with all the talk about jobs, taxes and the litany of commissions to address these problems, North Kingstown should bend over backwards to accommodate ANYONE willing to put money…   more ›
