“We ran out of popcorn bags!” Spirit Day committee member Harriet Powell cited that as just one sign of success for North Kingstown Spirit Day 2011. Powell, who chairs the North Kingstown Groundwater Committee, estimated that more than a thousand local folks visited North Kingstown High School Saturday for four hours of free entertainment, free activities, free food, free information and free stuff. Skippers fall to Barrington Eagles 4-0.
It's hard to take something positive away from a shutout, but the Skippers girls varsity soccer team is doing their best. The team was beaten at home by the Barrington Eagles 4-0 Thursday afternoon. Skippers (2-8-1 overall and Division I-South) keeper Jonna Miguel had five saves, but she was unable to stop the overwhelming Eagles' (9-3-1 overall and Division I-Central) offense, especially in the second half. Three of the four goals allowed were scored after halftime. Chelsea Larisa scored Barrington's first goal in the fifth minute.
