$5,000 Reward Offered for Info on Potter Road Fire

State and local fire officials have determined that a fire on Potter Road last week was arson.

A large fire that destroyed a 8,500 sq. ft. home on Potter Road last week was ruled arson by state and local officials. Police and fire personnel from North Kingstown found 229 Potter Road fully engulfed in flames around 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 23. Nine other communities aided North Kingstown firefighters as they battled the blaze. According to NK Fire Chief Fenwick Gardiner Jr., the fire was one of the biggest that NK has battled in five years. The home, commonly known as "Villa Maria," was vacant and the only person injured was a NK firefighter who had a minor heart attack at the scene. The State Fire Marshal's Office is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who has information about the fire, which investigators determined was set intentionally…

NK Fire Chief: Potter Road Fire 'Biggest Fire in NK in 5 Years'

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a large home on Potter Road.

  Crews are still investigating what caused a huge fire that destroyed a 8,500 sq. ft. home on Potter Road early Friday morning.  By the time the first company from the North Kingstown Fire Department arrived at 229 Potter Road shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, about half the house was engulfed in flames. The fire was so large that several other neighboring communities sent crews to assist – including East Greenwich, Narragansett, Warwick, Warwick, Exeter and Jamestown. At the peak of the battle, about 40 firefighters were on scene, according to North Kingstown Fire Chief Fenwick Gardiner. One NK firefighter was sent to the hospital with chest pains. Large Fire Destroys Home on Potter Road

A fire caused a 8,500 sq, ft. home on Potter Road to collapse early Friday morning.

  An overnight fire has left an 8,500 sq. ft. home on Potter Road destroyed. At around 1 a.m. last night, the North Kingstown Fire Department arrived at 229 Potter Road to find half of the house totally involved and engulfed in flames.  According to Channel 10 (WJAR-TV), nine nearby communities sent crews to help NKFD fight the fire – including Narragansett, Exeter, East Greenwich and Jamestown. Multimillion Dollar Medicaid Fraud Suspect Arrested For Pot Possession

Gary Anusavice will be in court on Oct. 30 on charges of possession of marijuana.

When North Kingstown police and federal agents arrived the home of Gary Anusavice to arrest him on charges of defrauding the Medicaid program of more than $20 million over a two-year period, they found more incriminating. According to the North Kingstown Police Department, officers and FBI agents found three baggies of marijuana in Anusavice’s home – one on his bureau in his bedroom, another on a TV stand in his den and a third in a desk drawer in his office – during his May 24 arrest. The total weight of the marijuana was allegedly 7.9 grams. Additionally, several bongs and pipes were found throughout the residence. On Oct. 17, North Kingstown police took Anusavice, whose current address is listed in Warren, into custody after a warrant …

Grand Jury Indicts NK Man in $20 Million Medicaid Fraud Scheme

A Connecticut grand jury has indicted a North Kingstown man in connection with a $20 million Medicaid fraud scheme.

A federal grand jury in New Haven, CT has returned a nine-count indictment, charging Gary Anusavice of North Kingstown with various offenses in relation to his involved in a $20 million Medicaid fraud scheme. Federal agents arrested 59-year-old Anusavice at his home on Potter Road on May 24 and raided dental offices he operated in Connecticut. According to the U.S Attorney's Office in Connecticut, continued to defraud taxpayers by "using an elaborate shield of companies and individuals to hide his involvement" after he was barred from practicing dentistry in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. “By surreptitiously operating dental clinics in Connecticut, this defendant allegedly defrauded the Medicaid program of more than $20 million over …
