5 Things To Do With the Kids Over February Break

Still trying to find some activities over vacation?

Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m. Head over to Biomes' new location up on Post Road to hang out with sharks, fish, lobsters and more! during February break. The marine biology center will be open from noon to 5 p.m. until Friday with feedings after half hour. Check here for the complete schedule this week. Various dates and times. We may not have any frozen ponds conducive to skating, but you can always head down to Boss Ice Arena in Kingston for their public skates. Learn more about the skates and find the schedule here. 5 Things: Play Day, Dinos & Funeral Services

Five things to know for Feb. 22.

1.  Funeral services for Maddie Healey, who passed away Sunday in a deadly crash in East Greenwich, have been set for this Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Bernard's Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home will be hosting visiting hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday. 2.  Do your kids love Jurassic Park? Of course they do. Explore the world of dinosaurs at today's program at the North Kingstown Free Library. Kids will get to interact with real fossils, study a simulated dinosaur trackway and more. Ages four to 10. What Are We Doing Today?

Vacation week brings on lots of questions from kids who are hanging out at home for most of the week--the one most heard is "What are we doing today?"

They sneak up on you like foxes in a henhouse, and the way I see it, you can either embrace them like warm summer days or face them with sheer panic. No, I’m not referring to your in-laws: I’m talking about school vacations!  Although it seems like seconds since our last school break ended, ready or not, the next vacation is already knocking at our door. Since our family isn’t jetting off to the South of France (thanks to the $1,900 car repair bill we paid last week) or heading to the Sunshine State to visit the big mouse himself, I am already prepared to hear phrases such as “I’m bored. There’s nothing to do around here” or “What are we doing today?” before I can empty out the leftover food from their backpacks that probably have some …

5 Things: President's Day, Free Movie & More

Five things to know Feb. 20.

1.  Town offices will be closed today in observance of President's Day. 2  Head over to The Fish Market today for a President's Day Party, featuring a buffet to benefit two charities. Runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.  3.  At Tuesday night's meeting, the North Kingstown Planning Commission will review plans for site improvements at Oak Hill Tavern and a Complete Streets resolution. Tuesday's meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at town hall. Check here for the full agenda. 4.  Need to occupy the kids tomorrow?
