How to Stay Warm During This Week's Extreme Cold

The following is a press release provided by the Rhode Island Department of Health.

  Colder than normal temperatures and wind chills are predicted for Rhode Island through the weekend. The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) reminds all Rhode Islanders of the following tips to stay safe during extreme cold: In North Kingstown, there are two warming centers. Check for drafts around doors, windows and the fireplace. If you are lucky and have glass doors in front, make sure to cover with plastic if flu doesn't close tight. Heat will go up the chimney. Also check air conditioning ducts in ceiling and make sure the returns are sealed and the dampers are closed. Another place for heat to leak out.   more ›
