The NK Zoning Board denied an application for a Dunkin' Donuts outside Wickford Village.
There won’t be a Dunkin’ Donuts in Wickford, at least for now. The North Kingstown Zoning Board of Review denied an application that would have brought a Dunkin’ Donuts to the corner of Phillips Street and Tower Hill Road. Thirteen residents of the more than 50 present at Tuesday night’s meeting vehemently spoke out against the project. The applicants, Theresa Amaral and Robert and David Batista, were seeking to build a 3,000 sq. ft. building on the half-acre lot. Half the building would be a Dunkin’ Donuts (without drive-through service) while the other half would be a business to be determined. Residents and members of both the zoning board and North Kingstown Planning Commission (which gave the project an unfavorable recommendation in…

The North Kingstown Zoning Board is considering an application that would bring a Dunkin' Donuts to Wickford.
On Tuesday night, the North Kingstown Zoning Board will consider a proposal that would bring a Dunkin' Donuts to the intersection of Phillips Street and Tower Hill Road. The plan would put a 3,000 sq. ft. building on the half-acre lot next to the medical building at 320 Phillips Street: half the building would be a Dunkin' Donuts while the other half would be a retail store to be determined. The Dunkin' would not have drive-through service, according to the application. A traffic study done by the developer found that the inclusion of the coffee shop chain at the intersection would have a "minimal impact." Residents, however, are not convinced. (Check here to see readers' comments on yesterday's story.) Many oppose the plan due to the …

Could Dunkin Donuts be coming to Wickford?
The North Kingstown Zoning Board of Review will discuss a proposal to bring Dunkin' Donuts to the Wickford area at its Tuesday night meeting. In August, the North Kingstown Planning Commission gave the project an unfavorable recommendation to the zoning board, citing traffic concerns in the already congested intersection. The project would be situated on the half-acre of vacant land nestled at the intersection of Ten Rod Road and Phillips Street. The parcel in question is adjacent to the medical building at 320 Phillips Street. The proposed 3,000 sq. ft. building would be a Dunkin' Donuts on one side and another retail shop to be determined. The plan calls for 25 parking spots and would not include drive-through service. Though a traffic …

Great description Mark of the patrons of Dunkin Donuts. I guess that's why the coffee chain has done so remarkably well. I can only imagine what the business would be like if real hard working people were patrons.   more ›
