BankNewport To Open New Branch in Quonset

BankNewport signed a lease for a new branch at The Shops at Quonset Point.

  The Shops at Quonset Point are getting a new neighbor soon. BankNewport announced Wednesday that it is leasing a parcel of land at the development in Quonset Business Park. The bank has signed a 15-year lease for a 2,000 sq. ft. bank branch at the front of the shopping center on the corner of Gate Road and the center entrance to the development. The building will feature two drive-thru lanes, an enhanced ATM for after-hours banking, a coin counting machine in the lobby and a conference room available to small businesses that require a meeting space during banking hours. In our bank (a competing one), it's called universal bankers. The goal is to get rid of tellers, and have the employees well-versed in all things customer service. In most cases, they will greet you in the lobby, and whether you need to open an account, open a CD, or make a casual deposit/withdrawal, that person will help you every step of the way, and even hold the door for you on the way out. …   more ›

A 'Team' Effort at Wide World of Indoor Sports

Wide World of Indoor Sports held its grand opening Wednesday afternoon.

1610 Davisville Road was just a vacant dirt lot back in January. Eight months later, it's now home to the state's newest indoor sports facility. Wide World of Indoor Sports South held its grand opening Wednesday afternoon, showcasing the facilities 92,000 square feet of space which includes four turf fields, a snack bar, beer and wine bar upstairs and plenty of seating. (Oh, and WiFi.) The facility is a sister site to the original WWIS in Smithfield, offering youth and adult leagues for a variety of sports (including soccer, flag football, wiffleball, lacrosse and more), tournaments and corporate events.  At Wednesday's grand opening, one thing was unanimous among the slew of speakers – WWIS journey to Quonset was a team effort.
