5 Things: Graveyards, Pet Refuge & More

Five things to know for May 30.

1.  Join local historian Tim Cranston for tour of four of Davisville's most significant graveyards. Learn about the area's first settlers and hear the stories of the NK families who rose to prominence. Tour starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday.  2.  Due to last weekend's unfavorable weather, Sun Rose Farm moved its grand opening to this Sunday. Learn more here. 3.  The Pet Refuge is hosting its 7th Annual Dog Walk at Goddard Park. The one-mile hike meets at the carousel and pre-registration is only $15. 5 Things: RI Economy, Volunteers & Narwhals

Five things to know for May 8.

1.  Today, Gov. Lincoln Chafee will be in town for a business community outreach forum at Beechwood Center. Joining him will be North Kingstown Town Manager Michael Embury and representatives from the RI EDC, Department of Labor and Training, and more to discuss the economy and speak to small businesses. This forum starts at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. 2.  The North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce is recognizing its volunteers and the organizations they serve at its Eighth Annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration. Five things to know for May 6.

1.  The North Kingstown Town Council meets tonight at 5:30 p.m. at town hall. Check here for the full agenda. 2.  Tomorrow, the North Kingstown Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. at town hall. On the agenda, the commission will hold a public hearing for a comprehensive plan amendment for the Commons at Frenchtown and other zoning changes and discuss the project for a proposed development on Frenchtown Road. 3.  On Wednesday, Gov. 1.  Smith's Castle is opening for the season this weekend. Stop by this Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. for re-enactors and more entertainment. Learn more here. 2.  The North Kingstown Community Chorus is starting of the spring season with its annual concert this weekend. Saturday's show is at 7 p.m. and Sunday's is at 3 p.m., both at North Kingstown High School.
