William H. Maine of North Kingstown passed away on May 17.
The following information comes from Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home. William H. Maine – Chief CFD, Retd. – passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 17 in North Kingstown. Originally from Providence, he was the son of the late Henry Maine and Madeline (Holman) Maine. He was also the husband of Joan G. (Fedor) Maine. Maine was also the fire chief of the Cranston Fire Department and owner of Maine Caterers until his retirement. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in North Kingstown, the Retired Fire Chiefs Association of Rhode Island, the Wickford Club, the North Kingstown Republican Town Committee and the North Kingstown Senior Center. Hoebbel, Dolores J. “Dee” age 78 of Hamilton Harbour in Wickford, passed away on May 14, 2012 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center of Providence. She was the wife of the late James W. Hoebbel. She was the proud mother to her four daughters, Kelley Wilson of North Kingstown, Martha Klein of Ossining, NY, and Kate Donahue and Patti Donahue both of Sarasota, FL. Her grandchildren, Jake Helms, Meg Giunta, Emma and Sarah Klein will miss their special “Ommie.” Dee retired as the coordinator to URI’s Student Senate in 2003 after almost 20 years. The following is a message sent by Friends of Plum Beach Lighthouse President David Zapatka to the organization's members, informing them of the passing of Dee Hoebbel. Friends of PBL is an organization that has worked to restore the 115-year-old Plum Beach Lighthouse, located next to the Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge. The group also created the award-winning Plum Beach Lighthouse speciality license plate. It is with great sadness to inform you of the passing of our Vice President Dee Hoebbel. You may not have ever met Dee, but she touched each and every one of the nearly 6,000 plate applications that have been processed to date. Dee was our go-to person for every aspect of the lighthouse. Edward R. Harrington of North Kingstown passed away this weekend at the age of 87.
The following information was provided by Hill Funeral Home. Services have been set for Edward R. Harrington, who passed away April 29 at home. He was 87 years old. Husband of the late June C. (Healey) Harrington, he is survived by his son Mark S. Harrington and his wife Barbara, grandson Dameon P. Harrington and great granddaughter Audrey. He was also the brother of the late Claire Healy. Harrington had been a career Navy veteran and was also a retired clerk from the US Post Office. Additionally, he was a member of the Fleet Reserve and the Knight's of Columbus. David Ryan, co-owner of the former Ryan's Market, passed away this weekend.
Patriarch and former owner of Ryan's Market David Ryan passed away March 11 at the age of 87. Ryan co-owned and operated the family-run market in Wickford Village for 57 years until his retirement. A staple of Wickford, the market closed down in 2007 after more than 120 years in business. Ryan was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in North Kingstown and also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
