Here's a little-known fact for you: there are barracudas in Narragansett Bay. Biomes Marine Biology Center, created by Mark Hall, is an educational facility working to raise awareness of what is in our own backyard. The center is home to the largest collection of New England marine life in the world and has more than 120 species. From sharks and eels to snakes and tortoises, here children and adults can get a close-up, and sometimes hands-on, look at our local marine life.

The center is open on Sundays and during school vacation and all summer Sunday through Friday. In addition to hosting school field trips and birthday parties, it offers outreach programs, bringing marine life to the classroom.
