Weekend Agenda: Scouts, Authors, Artists And Toy Boats

On Saturday …

Casey Farm Market: Every Saturday morning (from 9 a.m. to noon), the farm holds a terrific farmers market. The farm itself is beautiful and the foods for sale are both that and delicious. From 9 a.m. to noon.

Girl Scout registration: Fall registration for new Girl Scouts takes place from 10 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 3 p.m. at the North Kingstown United Methodist Church, 450 Boston Neck Road. All ages from kindergarten through high school may participate.

Second Saturday Authors’ Series: Davisville Free Library hosts local author and teacher Lawrence Verria, who will read from his new book, co-authored with George Galdorisi, The Kissing Sailor: The Mystery Behind the Photo That Ended World War II. Hear a good story, meet the author, have some refreshments, and explore one of the best little libraries in Rhode Island. 2 p.m.

Artists Closet: Artists Closet was created with the idea of exhibiting artists of all kinds, with the intent to build relationships with each other and the supporting space. Most artists involved are new and upcoming who have yet to show their work. The event Saturday night will feature a runway show by designers: Vinija Varghese, Kaleigh Guay, Iryna Kavalenka, Isabela Royale and Everything Enamour. Shopping with local accessory designers: Harliquinn Designs, Natural GLO Designs, Restored by Design, Graceful Goods and more. DJ Mr. Morris. At 6 p.m. $20.

On Sunday …

Down Syndrome Society’s Buddy Walk: The events at Goddard Park kick off with a 5K at 9 a.m. Registration for the walk begins at 10 a.m. with the walk setting off at 11. Walk to support those with Down syndrome and their families. There will be snacks, music, dancing, face painting, and games. Bring a picnic lunch. You can visit www.dssri.org for more information.

Walking Gong Meditation for Healing & Peace: There is so much peace, inspiration, healing and wisdom we can draw upon from nature. Join us for this very outdoor sound healing event in the sacred gardens at Sunrose Farm. Walk peacefully amidst sprawling meadows of intentional gardens of sacred geometries while sacred gong tones wash over your body, mind and spirit. 10 to 11:30 a.m. At Sunrose Farm, 495 Gilbert Stuart Road, Saunderstown.

Wickford Harbour Fest: The toy boat regatta may be the main event at the Wickford Harbour Fest, but there’s plenty that goes on before that. The event goes from noon to 5 p.m., with the boat race at 4:30. In addition to entertainment, local foods, games, vendors, a fire truck, and hayrides, there will be a couple of new items – a dunk tank and a clam-cake-eating contest. At NK Town Beach from noon to 5 p.m.
