Casey Farm/Coastal Growers Farmers Market: Every Saturday morning (from 9 a.m. to noon), the farm holds a terrific farmers market. The farm itself is beautiful and the  foods for sale are both that and delicious. From 9 a.m. to noon.

NKHS Booster Club Calendar Raffle Sale: This is a blitz operation in which Skippers fan out all over North Kingstown and Jamestown selling calendars for just $5 apiece. From 9:30 a.m. to noon. Support the Skippers!

Much Ado About Nothing: Join Shakespeare scholar Helen Whall of the College of the Holy Cross in a discussion of the Shakespeare comedy “Much Ado About Nothing” at the North Kingstown Free Library. Copies of the play will be available at the Circulation Desk if you would like to read it in advance. (On Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. the library will show the 2012 modern adaptation of the play by Joss Whedon.) Please register.

Friends of Ron Stabile concert: A free concert featuring many students, friends and colleagues of Ron Stabile from his many years as a teacher and performer takes place Saturday at 8 p.m. at URI. Donations will be accepted to help raise money for the Ron Stabile Scholarship at URI.

On Sunday …

EGAPL Hound Hike: The 17th Annual Hound Hike to support the East Greenwich Animal Protection League takes place Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Carousel in Goddard Park – rain or shine. Registration begins at noon and the 2-mile walk starts at 1 p.m. There is a $20 donation per walker. All dogs must be leashed, healthy and vaccinated. Gary Burton in concert: A jazz concert featuring star jazz vibraphonist and jazz fusion master Gary Burton, to benefit the Ron Stabile Percussion Scholarship, takes place Sunday at 3 p.m. at URI. Don't miss this chance to hear Burton, whose memoir about the jazz scene in the 60's and 70's has just been published. Held in the URI Fine Arts Center Concert Hall. Assigned seating ticket prices $45, $35, $25. Tickets are on sale through our website (credit card only) or at the door as available (check or cash only).
