Homeschooling Intro, Little Pictures & Cold!

Your guide for life in North Kingstown today, Dec. 13.

Intro to Homeschooling: ENRICHri, a nonprofit secular organization, provides support and guidance for homeschooling families in Southern New England. Bev Burgess, State Coordinator for ENRICHri, and Melissa Robb, a homeschooler with six years of experience and an ENRICHri Board member,  will present this program that covers the basics of homeschooling. 10 a.m.

Little Picture Show @ Wickford Art Assoc.: The Wickford Art Association gallery features Our Little Picture Show from Nov. 22 to Dec. 18 at our gallery at 36 Beach St. in North Kingstown. The Little Picture Show is our last gallery event of the year. All the artwork in this exhibit is 8" x 10" or under and priced to sell. If you (or someone on your Christmas list) like art, this is a good opportunity to pick up a wonderful, moderately priced piece from a talented local artist.

Baby, It IS Cold Outside: According to local weather blogger Harold Ambler (who says he learned it from WeatherBell Analytics' Ryan Maue), "the six days ending December 10 were the coldest for the whole country since at least 1979. The surprise is that it happened in early December. January and February are generally colder. It's harder for the system to generate sustained cold so early in the season." And it's only been colder – in New England anyway – since then. And snow is on the way. Ambler's prediction from Thursday: "My best guess for snowfall over the weekend, comparing various model predictions, is 4 or 5 inches. Could easily be half that, and could easily be 6 to 8. But it shouldn't be none and it shouldn't be a foot, either." We will soon find out!
