Monday Essentials: Thanksgiving, Football & Pizza

On Monday …

Sch. Committee Facilities Management and Planning Subcommittee meeting: On the agenda are septic and boiler issues at NK High School. 100 Fairway Drive, at 5 p.m. You’ll find the agenda here.

Town Council meeting: On the agenda is a proposed addition to the Wickford Art Association and further discussion of the next phase of the sewer project. You will find the agenda here. They meet at Beechwood Senior Center, 44 Beach St., estimated to begin at 7 p.m. (an executive session starts at 6:30).

Bravo Pizza opens: North Kingstown has a new pizza place – Bravo Wood Fired Pizza, 6689 Post Road, opens today. They are serving pizza, pasta, salads, beer and wine, and will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Take out is available from the drive thru window after calling in your order to 398-2500.

Zoning Board meeting: The panel meets at Town Hall; the agenda is here. 7 p.m.

Thanksgiving market: Whether you have ordered your turkey from Pat’s Pastured or elsewhere, you are invited to the Thanksgiving Market from 3 to 7 p.m. Among the venders selling on Tuesday are Great Harvest Bakery (breads, pies, and cakes – pre-order here), Robin Hollow Farm (flowers, centerpieces, and wreaths pre-order here), Wishing Stone Farm (organic veggies and cheese), Narrow Lane (fresh apples), Walrus & Carpenter Oysters, Fairland Farm (dried and fresh cranberries), Bucket Brewery (by pre-order only, pre-order info here), and The Coffee Guy (drinks and beans). And they will be cooking up some Pat’s hot dogs and sausages. 830 South Road just over the border from NK in East Greenwich. From 3 to 7 p.m.

On Wednesday …

Alumni Visiting Day at NKHS: Alumni are welcome back at the high school between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Grocery store mayhem: If you’re going shopping today, plan extra time and a sense of humor.

On Thursday …

Thanksgiving Football Game: The Skippers play the South Kingstown Rebels at URI, Route 138, at 10 a.m.

Thanksgiving meal: Living Hope Christian Church, 730 South County Trail, is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 2 p.m. All are welcome. Free.

On Friday …

Ninigret Turkey Trot: It’s the Friday after Thanksgiving and all of the food has been eaten. How about a walk at the Ninigret wildlife refuge? Maybe you’ll get lucky and catch a glimpse of  a turkey that survived the holiday. Meet at the West Entrance off Route 1 South, Charlestown.

On Saturday …

3rd Annual Turkey Trot: The fun begins at 8:30 a.m. with a 1-Mile Fun Run run. The main event, a 5K race, starts at 9. Registration at the Varnum Armory opens at 7 a.m. The course highlights the Hill & Harbour district. Come join this great community event, sponsored by the Main Street Association.
