Monday Essentials: Superior Court Hearing, Council Meeting

Your guide for life in North Kingstown this week.

On Monday …

Superior Court hearing – Town of NK vs. Firefighters: There are three motions that could be heard by Superior Court Judge Brian Stern this morning, but the first one will most likely be the motion filed Friday by the town seeking Stern to recuse himself from hearing the other two motions. The other motions are one from the State Labor Relations Board asking for immediate enforcement of its ruling Sept. 27 that the town restore the NK firefighters previous work schedule. The other motion, from the town, seeks a “stay” (delay) of that same ruling. Kent County Courthouse at 11 a.m.

Town Council meeting: On the agenda are public hearings on changes to the tax exempt status and economic development tax incentive ordinances, as well as a conceptual discussion on the next phase of the sewer project. The public meeting starts at 7 p.m., preceded by an executive session that starts at 6. At Beechwood Senior Center, 44 Beach Street.
