Monday Essentials: Sewer Talk, Robot Workshop & School Committee

Town Council meeting: On the agenda, the panel will discuss the next phase for the sewer project. You’ll find the full agenda here.

Robots at NK Library: The Rhode Island Computer Museum will present a free workshop call “Robots on the Run” at North Kingstown Free Library. The workshop aims to explain basic circuits and instructions on how to build a simple robot. You will learn programmable electronics, and instructions for making lights blink, motors run, sounds and a lot more. We’ll take time to learn about interactive software titled “Arduino” and you can create your own sample robot. At 6:30 p.m.

NK Farmers Market: The market takes place in the back of the Brown Street municipal parking lot, by the anchor, every Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. Check it out!

NK Book Club: First published in 1899, The Awakening by Kate Chopin shocked readers with its open sensuality and uninhibited treatment of marital infidelity. The poignant, lyrical story of a New Orleans wife who attempts to find love outside a stifling marriage, critics have praised it as a forerunner of the modern novel. Come to the NK Free Library for this book discussion at 5:30 p.m.

Traveler’s Talks at Willett: The Willett Free Library holds Traveler's Talks today, with guest speaker Richard Fernie sharing his experiences of sailing around Cape Horn in 2002. This one-hour talk will feature photos and video from his journey. It’s free, but call ahead (401-294-2081) to reserve your spot!
