I am assuming that this is referring to Wickford Village. Based upon that assumption, how many business owners and commercial property owners are going to continue to own or stay open if the Town is going to require only them to pay for the installation and connect to the future sewer line? I hope your planning on issuing more beer, wine and liquor licenses to accommodate any food establishments because that's the only way your going to draw people in to spend money.

i attended the meeting and believe the council has listened to the people and that it's imperative to begin the sewering process. i do agree that North Kingstown has to increase the liquor licenses in town.

A story is coming later tonight on last night's decision. Liquor licenses were not addressed.

nnwshe, Referencing your post that the council listened to the people are you referring the whole of North Kingstown or only people residing in Wickford? Or the fact that the town as a whole will assist in paying Wickfords sewer assessment? and can the remainder of town expect the same treatment as Wickford is receiving?

In answer to sewerkingus, I believe the council listened to the people of Wickford and also fairly represented what is best for the town. They did not say, at any time, that the rest of NK would pay for the Wickford sewers. They were quite explicit on that matter. In regards to the liquor license comment, my statement was in concurrence with Jeff's previous post. As much as we might not want to condone the drinking of liquor, it is part of many successful business models across the nation and abroad.

nnwshe, “I believe the council listened to the people of Wickford” Am I correct in posting that you are one of the Wickford folks in favor of tax payer subsidized sewers? And that you are of the opinion that Wickford is the center of all and that the rest of NK does not matter i.e. Post Rd residents should pay their sewer assessment, pay their taxes and above all be quiet. “They did not say, at any time, that the rest of NK would pay for the Wickford sewers” Are you thinking that since Wickford El is in the proximity of Wickford that Wickford actually owns the building and any sale proceeds should be used for the advancement of Wickford?
