N. Kingstown Firefighters Go Bald For Cancer Fundraiser

Eight of NK's firefighters ventured to Providence Wednesday night to shave their heads for charity.

There are eight members of the North Kingstown Fire Department Local 1651 who are probably begging for warmer temperatures. A group of NK firefighters trekked up to McFadden's in Providence Wednesday night for the 2nd Annual St. Baldrick's Foundation event to do the unthinkable – shave their heads.

NKFD joined in with dozens of other departments (including East Greenwich, West Warwick and East Providence) and groups looking to go hairless for a good cause. Thus far, the NKFD has raised $1,734 of the nearly $31,000 raised total. The proceeds will go to the foundation, which works to find a cure for childhood cancer.

The team will continue to raise through next week.
