[VIDEO] Autism Project Summer Camp Celebrates 11 Years

The Johnston-based nonprofit recently completed the first week of its "Move, Think, Create, Communicate" summer camp for kids with autism.


As part of its year-round services to children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), of Johnston has been offering its "Move, Think, Create, Communicate" summer camp.

Now in its 11th year, the summer camp moved to the Buck Hill Boy Scout Reservation in Pascoag for the 2012 two-week program.

The accompanying video shows the scene on Aug. 10, as campers and staff wrapped their first week with drumming led by members of the Rhode Island Philharmonic, as well as arts programs and that staple of summer camp: swimming.

Among the speakers featured in the video: Camp Director Lisa McKay of North Kingstown, who works during the school year as an adaptive physical education teacher in East Greenwich.
