NK Memorial Day Parade Ceremonies Begin at 9 a.m.

Everything you need to know about this year's parade and ceremonies in North Kingstown.

Wickford is about to get decked out in the red, white and blue as the annual North Kingstown Memorial Day Parade approaches. If you're looking to partake in this town tradition and catch the parade, here are some things you might need to know before you head out the door this Monday.

Commemoration - 9 a.m. at Town Hall

Before the parade kicks off at 10 a.m., the day starts off with wreath-laying ceremonies at the Civil War Memorial at Town Hall and the memorials at the nearby Veterans Memorial Park. TAPS will be performed along with a rifle team salute.

Start of Parade - 10 a.m. at Wilson Park

Parade marchers will begin forming at Wilson Park at 9 a.m. with the start set for 10 a.m.

The Route

The parade kicks off at Wilson Park and follows West Main Street, Brown and Phillips Streets through the village then on to Tower Hill Road. The parade then heads south on Route 1/Tower Hill Road.

Concluding Ceremonies

The parade will end at Elm Grove Cemetery at around 11 a.m. with its concluding ceremonies. This year ceremonies will focus on the remembrance of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

Hot Dogs!

Parishioners of First Baptist Church of North Kingstown invite residents to a hot dog roast at the church, right across the street from the concluding ceremonies at Elm Grove Cemetery. 

In case of inclement weather, the wreath-laying ceremonies for both the Town Hall and Veterans Memorial Park will go forward at 9 a.m., as well as the ceremonies at Elm Grove Cemetery at 11 a.m.
