Love Jeeps? There's a Festival in NK for You

Ocean State Jeepsters and Paul Bailey's Dodge Chrysler Jeep in NK are hosting the Ocean State Jeep Festival on Aug. 17.

From the stately Grand Wagoneer, the classic CJ Cherokee, to the timeless design of the Wrangler, which has been faithfully unmolested by Jeep and Chrysler over its long lifespan and is still the benchmark for off-roading capability, there's something about Jeeps.

The community of Jeep fans is one of the largest automotive subcultures around the world and for good reason — no other automotive nameplate has kept its core concept of durability and capability so close to heart.

In August, Jeep fans from around New England — and beyond — will roll into Paul Bailey's Chrysler Dodge Jeep at 425 Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown for the Ocean State Jeep Festival.

It's a Jeep festival, so it's going on rain or shine and for $10 per vehicle, you get trail rides, a wheeling 101 seminar, use of an RTI ramp and a chance to check out some of what's available in the sprawling Jeep aftermarket with vendors and exhibitors on hand with their wares.

There's events for kids, music by 94HJY and best of all, a chance to check out classic and modern Jeep models.

The festival is a joint venture between Paul Bailey's and Ocean State Jeepsters and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can learn more about Ocean State Jeepsters at their Web site, http://www.oceanstatejeepsters.org/index.html. They also have some photos of members' Jeeps earning their trail cred.
