URI Basketball Goes Pink But Makes Dayton See Red

After weeks of white out conditions, the Rhody Rams and Gloria Gemma Foundation bring some pink to the state at the fifth annual Pink Out.

KINGSTON – The University of Rhode Island overcame a 21-0 first half Dayton University run to handily win 67-53 Wednesday night before a packed house for the fifth annual Pink Out.

Senior point guard Marquis Jones again sliced up Dayton for easy buckets, finishing with a game-high 20 points. Jones also beat Dayton last year on a last minute shot.

Patch’s Sarah FitzGerald was there to capture the sights of the game, along with the sounds of the postgame press conferences. If you’re looking for a game story, check out:

  • The GoRhody presser with a Nikola Malesevic video interview here.
  • The Providence Journal game story here. The Journal also did, uh, a Rams Journal that has an interview with “new” Rhody recruit Billy Baron, and info on Jones’ domination of Dayton.
  • Eric Rueb from The Narragansett Times also has comments from Billy Baron here.
  • According to its Facebook page, The South County Independent will also have remarks from Billy Baron today.
