NK Memorial Day Event/Parade

The Town Will Hold Two Events Today to Mark Memorial Day

Memorial Day Observances will begin in North Kingstown at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 30th with wreath laying ceremonies at the Civil War Memorial near Town Hall, 80 Boston Neck Road, and at the adjacent Veterans Memorial Day Park.  Ceremonies will include prayer time, rifle team volleys and the playing of Taps.

The Memorial Day Parade will begin forming at 9 a.m. at Wilson Park.  Scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., the parade will follow West Main Street (Route 1A South),  Brown and Phillips Streets through Wickford, and then onto Tower Hill Road (Route 1 South) to the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial on the grounds of Elm Grove Cemetery.  A concluding ceremony, scheduled to start at 11 a.m., will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery.

If there is inclement weather on the 30th, the ceremonies at Town Hall and Veterans Memorial Park will take place as planned. At 11 a.m., wreath laying ceremonies for the World War Memorial at Updike Park in Wickford Village and at the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial at Elm Grove Cemetery will take place.
