Can you Say Perfect? NK Softball Claims D-I Crown

The victory brings the championship home to North Kingstown for the first time in a dozen years.

The North Kingstown softball team put the icing on the cake of a perfect season after beating Smithfield 8-2 in the Division I final at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex in Providence Wednesday night.

The victory brings the championship home to North Kingstown for the first time in a dozen years and it marks a tremendous season that included 16 wins, no losses and tremendous spirit that shone through across the entire lineup.

"By far the best group I've had in nine years of coaching," Coach Adam Laliberte told the Providence Journal

North Kingstown watched Smithfield get on the board first with a 2-0 lead in the first, but that was the end of the runs for them after NK fought back with six runs in the fourth inning.
