Beisel Scores Second Medal

Elizabeth Beisel nabbed a bronze medal in Friday's 200-meter backstroke.

Elizabeth Beisel is coming back to the United States with two very esteemed pieces of jewelry. The 19-year-old North Kingstown native won her second medal of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London on Friday afternoon, finishing third in the 200-meter backstroke.

US Swimming teammate Missy Franklin, who was favored to win the event, took home the gold and set a new world record. Anastasia Zueva of Russia finished in second. Beisel pulled into third in the last 50 meters of the race.

The bronze medal is Beisel's second of these Olympics. On the first day of the Games, Beisel scored the silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley.
