A Foot Situation

How a foot situation can be helped by salt water!

It has been a long time since I wrote on this blog. Lots has been happening. I am getting ready to launch new programs and a new website;I have tons of ideas for workshops and teleclasses and of course my family to spend time with.

We had a fabulous summer, spent time together by our pool with family and friends, going biking, cooking and going blueberry picking.

Food, healing and understanding the mind and body are fascinating topics and I don't ceased to be amazed. This brings me to today's situation.

My daughter is six years old, attending first grade and in perfect health. Yet, she was born with a skin condition on her feet. During pregnancy, I ate mostly organic food, exercised and felt happy. I breastfed her while still eating a diet free of pesticides and chemicals. But, for the last two to three years now, we have been going to see various different doctors from dermatologists to homeopaths but never quite getting an answer as to what it is and why.

Our pediatrician is an homeopath and he has had my daughter on a remedy, changing the dose from time to time for the last two and a half years. In the mean time, we have tried many things – from cutting sugar (which meant all processed white flour, breads, honey, agave, etc.), fruits and yeast completely out of her diet with no improvements. We have tried medical creams, black walnut oil, nutrabiotic, grapefruit seed extract, zinc, biotin and vitamin C. I am sure I am forgetting something. I did forget something: we also stopped using soap on her feet.

We now know there is a constitutional reason (basically, how she was put together) and genetic (it does run in the family). Knowing this taught us why using steroids couldn't be the answer. They would only mask the problem, not resolve it long term (hence for life!)

I am sharing all this so you can see how frustrating this has been for our family; yet our daughter when asked by the friends, "So what's wrong with your feet? They are weird!", simply answers "That's how I was born!" Boy, I love this kid.

Despite all the trial and errors we made, all the doctors visits and all the frustration, this summer (thanks to our salt water pool) we made a VERY important discovery. And, this is why I am sharing with you. I want to share with you that our body is amazing and healing is beyond medication and even beyond food. Although for me, healing usually starts with food. This discovery is much more profound than food.

Our GRAND discovery is that salt water makes her feet beautiful. The redness, puffyness, itchiness, dryness is GONE as soon as her feet are in salt water. This is amazing. Mother nature has given us a way to partially heal her feet, we still have to deal with the inside and what is creating it but this revelation is astonishing to me.

Sorry for the long story but I hope this will open your hearts to all the forms of healing available and maybe look to Mother nature next time before you head to the doctor or maybe you will decide to dig to the root of the problem instead of using a Bandaid (i.e. medication).

I felt compelled to share with you as it has been on my mind for several days now. She gets two foot baths a day with warm water and epsom salt for five minutes each and then I rub coconut oil on her feet to moisturize the skin.

Stay tune for more to come.
