Video: Johnston School Hosts Fundraiser In Henseler's Honor

Seventh-graders in the National Junior Honors Society at St. Rocco School coordinated a dress-down day and bracelet sale on Oct. 20.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, students at in Johnston held a dress-down day on Oct. 20 in honor of Suzanne Henseler, a longtime teacher at the school and town official in North Kingstown who passed away in 2006.

Henseler was named the first woman House Majority Whip in 1992 and was elected to the North Kingstown Town Council in 2004. In 2008, The North Kingstown Town Council voted to name Quidnesset Elementary School in her honor, making it the Suzanne M. Henseler Quidnessett Elementary School.

Bedecked in pink to highlight their effort, members of the National Junior Honors Society handed out pink bracelets for students and staff who made donations.
