Two NK Schools Earn 'Commended' Rating

Stony Lane Elementary and Wickford Middle School were new additions to the 'Commended' list.

Two North Kingstown Schools earned the state Department of Education's highest rating, "Commended," in the school ratings published July 2.

Stony Lane Elementary and Wickford Middle School were among a dozen new entries to the top classification in the annual report by Commissioner Deborah Gist.

North Kingstown Supt. Dr. Phil Auger issued an email Tuesday afternoon praising "the high quality of our schools and our determination to always get better" for contributing to the achievement.

Other schools in town held the two next-highest designations:

  • Classified as 'Leading' were North Kingstown High School and Hamilton Elementary School
  • Classified as 'Typical' were Fishing Cove, Forest Park, and Suzanne Henseler Quidnesset Elementary Schools, and Davisville Middle School.
