NKHS Assistant Principal To Leave For EGHS
Timothy Chace will leave North Kingstown High School this year for East Greenwich.
Timothy Chace has been appointed the new assistant principal at East Greenwich High School during a meeting Tuesday night at the East Greenwich School Department.
After the appointment, the School Committee approved a three-year contract for Chace. His official start date is Aug. 16.
Chace has been serving as one of three assistant principals at North Kingstown High School, in charge of discipline for ninth and eleventh graders. NKHS has 1,600 students, more than double that of EGHS.
Chace lives in Coventry and grew up in Warwick. He's married and has two children, Lily, age 7, and Wil, age 5.
He joins Principal Michael Podrazo, who himself served as assistant principal for five years before being named principal in April.

"We're well poised to have an terrifically effective team at the high school," said Supt. Victor Mercurio during the meeting.
Before working in North Kingstown, Chace was a school administrator in West Warwick for six years.
He said that there were a couple of factors in his decision to seek the EG job.
“In a small school like East Greenwich High School, with 700 kids, you can do great things,” he said on Wednesday.
Noting their relative youth, Chace said he hoped that he, EGHS Principal Michael Podraza and Supt. Mercurio would be able to work together for years to come, something to look forward to “when you’re coming from a place where there’s been a lot of turnover and change.”
North Kingstown lost its superintendent last month, among other leadership changes in recent years.
“I just like the whole leadership process in East Greenwich. It gives us an opportunity to do some great things there,” he said.
