NK Community Chorus Announces Scholarship Winners

Congrats are in order to Samuel Hollister and Catherine Reilly, two North Kingstown High School seniors who have won scholarships from the NK Community Chorus.

The North Kingstown Community Chorus announced the scholarship winners for 2014.  

Two North Kingstown High School seniors have received scholarships that will assist them in pursuing their continued studies in music.

Catherine Reilly, who will receive the North Kingstown Community Chorus scholarship and will attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  She will major in classical music and continue violin studies.  Catherine has been active in the NKHS Orchestra, RI All-State Orchestra and RI Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.  Catherine will play the violin at the Chorus’ Sunday afternoon concert on May 4th.

Samuel Hollister will receive the Allie Goulet Memorial Scholarship and has received a letter of acceptance from Yale and the University of Michigan.  He is planning to double major in music performance and mathematics and has the goal of becoming a conductor.  Sam has been in the NKHS Orchestra and served as the accompanist for all the many choir concerts.  He attended Interlochen Summer Arts Camp from 2010-2013.  Sam will play a piano selection at the Chorus’ Saturday evening concert on May 3rd.

The concerts will take place in the high school auditorium at 7 PM on Saturday and 3 PM on Sunday. Call 295-1699 to reserve your ticket ($10) to one of these performances
