Credit Scores, College Loans & The Stock Market – NK Seniors Tackle Financial Literacy

R.I. General Treasurer Gina Raimondo came to NKHS last week to congratulate the two dozen students passed the web-based financial literacy program called EverFi.

About two dozen North Kingstown High School seniors got to spend some time with state General Treasurer Gina Raimondo last week. She was there to give them their certificates of completion of a financial literacy course called EverFi.

"As we're getting ready next week to send you off into the world after high school, we recognize how important those financial literacy skills are going to be for you," said NKHS Principal Tom Kenworthy.

EverFi, which was sponsored by People's Credit Union, is meant to help young people become more informed financial citizens.

"I want to give you some advice that I hope you take to heart," Raimondo told the students. "Please be careful of debt. Be careful of student loans, car loans, credit cards, payday loans. Just be careful. That's what this whole EverFi program is about ... it's much easier to stay out of debt than to get out of debt."
