Town Council To Discuss New Beach Concept Plan

A preview of the North Kingstown Town Council meeting on Monday night.

After a nearly two-year-long standstill, plans for the 's future will be making some headway at Monday's North Kingstown Town Council meeting.

With the fate of Beechwood House decided, the Town Council will look at how to reorganize the beachfront in the coming year. One of the focal points will be the location of the bandstand, which has been absent from the town beach for more than two years. The old bandstand was removed to make way for the new facility in fall 2008.

In December, the Town Council decided to from its waterfront location to an adjacent street, opening up the campus area of the town beach.

In addition, the council will discuss the idea of hiring a human resources director for the town at the suggestion of Council Member Charles Brennan. According to Brennan, the town has not had someone in that position for the past 22 years. Brennan suggests that this individual would act as a liaison between town employees and insurance companies, take lead in hiring matters and staff training and other personnel matters.

The council will also look to delay a public hearing on the proposed development at Rolling Greens Golf Course to March 7, following the completion of the North Kingstown Planning Commission's public hearings on the matter. (.)
