Toray Plastics To Receive 'We Are Proud of You' Award

Town Council will recognize Quonset company for solar energy project.

Toray Plastics of America will receive North Kingstown's third annual "We are Proud of You" Award at the June 27 meeting of the North Kingstown Town Council. The company is being honored for its on Quonset Point.

The award recognizes individuals and organizations that are using or plan to use renewable energy strategies, sell products that encourage using renewable energy, or have increased renewable energy use in a home or business. Attendees at North Kingstown's March 19 voted on 11 nominees for this year's award, and Toray captured the most votes.

Spirit Day committee member Harriet Powell said that Toray Plastics of America President and CEO of Rich Schloesser and Senior Vice President of Engineering and Maintenance Shigeru Osada will be on hand to accept the award.

Osada reports that Toray broke ground on the solar project June 6 and expect to commission it at the end of August.
