I also support Bob Jones. He has the credibility in this state and brings professionalism to the table. He is also a passionate man too! One wonders if some of the anti-posters here are the ones with the vendetta (against Bill Mudge). Some may be former "friends" of Mr Mudge and with "friends" like that... anyway not wishing to be rude as my own three kids read this. But there is a clan-like structure on our school board, if Avanzato goes and Ceresi keeps his promise to go away. Then we shall be uplifted a bit from that, in my own humble opinion. Not wishing to be all 'anti incumbent' but a new direction is clearly called here/
MeanE October 11, 2012 at 03:46 PM
Glad to see your response Robert. Good Luck.
NK WATCH October 11, 2012 at 06:19 PM
@meanE: if you wanted to hide behind a screen name to discussion THE ISSUES that would be one thing. But the truth of the matter is you hide behind your screen name to to criticize and judge everyone. What creditability should we put in what you say. You my dear are the poster child for bullies.
NK WATCH October 11, 2012 at 06:27 PM
Mr jones, school committee meetings have been video taped for the past 10 years....thanks for your new ideas . Unfortunately the cameras don't tape the audience but I will waste my time (as I'm sure you will lie deny it). But since you asked: I was seated in the row in front of you, your own wife told you to stop and you had your kids with you.. Nice example to set for all....you support mr. Mudge and he supports you enough said I've watched this for far too long
MeanE October 11, 2012 at 06:48 PM
Hide behind screen name? What? Does your birth certificate read first name NK and last name Watch? Your post is laughable. I am a bully because I don't like a public official that was arrested for spousal abuse (charges dropped), routinely speaks when others are speaking at meetings, gets into shouting matches at meetings with women in attendance and needs to have others intervene and get between them. What part of my words indicate bully? Theses are facts! As public officials, we are supposed to judge their performance. That's what we ALL do. I didn't ask for any credibility for anything I have said and certainly don't need your blessing. Tell me again what issues you have discussed? "bill mudge's theatrics" "people like them"
Robert Jones October 11, 2012 at 06:52 PM
NK Watch - My wife and my kids have never attended a school committee meeting (at that hour they would either be at home or in extra-curricular events) so you obviously have mis-identified me. Since you vividly seem to remember this account, you would also recall the date of the meeting? Again, if you feel the need to throw out false accusations to protect the current incumbent, that speaks volumes to why we need new members on the committee.
MeanE October 11, 2012 at 07:05 PM
NK Watch you want to talk about criticizing and credibility and hiding behind screen names, let's look at some of your comments shall we: NK WATCH 5:16 pm on Thursday, July 19, 2012 Pat cole.....another town nut...... Bravo! Robert Bravo!
NK WATCH October 11, 2012 at 08:13 PM
Mr jones I don't for or about any current members and I really don't know the candidates. Which brings me to my question. Do you support the outsourcing of custodians and other non educational areas like food service and maintenance. Thank you
MeanE October 11, 2012 at 08:38 PM
You are unbelievable! You call the man a liar! Say he was yelling at a SC meeting. Now you post that you really don't know the candidates after he puts you in your place! On top of that you want him to answer a question. I don't think you deserve an answer! F_R_A_U_D
NK WATCH October 11, 2012 at 09:08 PM
Thank you meanE. Mr jones and I disagree about the school board meeting. Now as for my question on the issue..mr. Jones?
MeanE October 11, 2012 at 09:17 PM
Nonsense NK Watch! You are uncovered as a FRAUD (a fraud is an intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual). This is you and you do not deserve a response. Obviously Robert can comment if he wishes. However, if I were him I would not give you the time of day!
NK WATCH October 11, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Yes meanE you uncovered me, thank you. As a voter I will wait for a response from the candidate
NK_Voter October 12, 2012 at 12:33 AM
Mr. Jones seems to have an impressive résumé to back him up his claim that he'll do a good job. Besides two kids in school and a penchant for negative characterizations of people who take on the school committee, why should we listen to you?
knightinshiningarmor October 12, 2012 at 01:33 AM
He may have an impressive resume, but I do not want and can't support another Bill Mudge on the SC. I've had enough yelling and carrying on at the meetings, it's a disgrace! No other town has meetings like that. Mr Jones is already aligned with Mr Mudge, therefore he doesn't have my vote.
SoxFan October 12, 2012 at 05:12 AM
Mr. Jones, I just had some questions on your position on school issues: 1. Privatization: Do you agree with the privatization of custodians and are you in favor of outsourcing food services? 2. Do you agree with the school committee's recent unilateral changes to the ESP contract? 3. What do you see as the biggest issue/problem for the school department right now? 4. What types of solutions can you offer to our current budgetary constraints? I look forward to seeing your responses. Thank you.

It is rare to see a politician, candidate, or an offical come onto a blog, use their REAL name and engage in the conversation. I already see many of the usual suspects here begining to dominate the page and maybe diminish any conversation you may want to have with other readers/posters (nothing against them at all btw). hopefully this page doesn't end up in a pointless fight. For what its worth thank you for stepping up and being accessible as a candidate for office. Many people are running for office this year aren't.
MeanE October 12, 2012 at 01:16 PM
Did you ever think that maybe with new blood and someone with an impressive resume like Robert Jones might make the meetings better? He has worked with over a dozen towns, could it be that many of the other towns you speak of have had no yelling & carrying on because they were assisted by the Bryant Institute for Public Leadership? Maybe Mudge will not have to yell to be heard, maybe the alliance will not be able to dominate the proceedings. All the Mudge haters point out his yelling but seem to neglect mentioning the yelling that has been done by Boscardin and I believe Welch, and the continuous talking that is done by other on the committee while someone else is speaking. At every meeting you can hear the snide remarks, sighs, disgust, and sarcastic laughter made by many on the stage. Everyone knows that Bill is rough around the edges and can cause disruption to meetings. However, many of you are either blind to the actions of all of the members, or more likely choose not to acknowledge them because of your allegiances to party politics. Is Bill Mudge a saint? By all means NO! None of us are. But show me someone, anyone in the town that has uncovered the kind of corruption in this town that he has. If Mr. Jones is about transparency, I am all for it! With his experience, I am hopeful that he will bring levity to a once again dysfunctional school committee.
Steve O October 13, 2012 at 02:49 AM
JB I agree!
Steve O October 13, 2012 at 02:52 AM
This is a good thread. I wish and hope that Watch (NK or NKGOP) dont ruin it. I think they and some others might really be Avanzato & Co. in reality!)
knightinshiningarmor October 13, 2012 at 12:58 PM
Not a school Board member, just a parent who recently moved to this town. With all due respect, many parents share my opinion of Mr Mudge, and my concerns about his behavior. Just ask some parents and you'll see. While he may have uncovered corruption in the past, his negative attacking behavior isn't warranted now, and I don't support any candidate who supports him or is supported by him. If you've ever attended School Board meetings in other towns, you know that they are not like the nk meetings. There is no need and no excuse to act like you are cross examing a criminal at every school meeting. It's ridiculous. I disagree that there's no transparency of school issues, it seems like every school issue is under a miscroscope, it just isn't like that in other towns. I've attended and mostly watched a few town meetings, and I find there to be a lack of transparency regarding town issues, but at least they don't have Mr Mudge to obstruct and interrupt all speakers. I find Dr Auger to be helpful and responsive to parent concerns. He handled the two issues I aproached him with (one busing issue, one teaching issue) with respect and really tried to resolve them. I can't support Mr Jones, as he appears to support and be supported by Mr Mudge. That isn't an allegiance to party politics. It's my opinion as an informed voter.
NK_Voter October 13, 2012 at 02:15 PM
It's ironic that your screen name is knightinshiningarmor yet you sling mud at Mr. Jones because you don't like Mr. Mudge and it "appears" that Mr. Jones supports Mr. Mudge. News flash.....Jones isn't Mudge. How about we let the candidate tell us who he/she is and where they stand without the mischaracterizations?
knightinshiningarmor October 13, 2012 at 02:31 PM
It's not mud slinging to have concerns. Mud slinging is making personal comments, or discussing a candidate's private life. I'll tell you what, I'll hear out Mr Jones at the forums, and reserve judgement until after that. My concerns are based on his focus as a member of the Audit Committee, where he constantly wants to focus on the schools and appears to have the same attitude as does Mudge. I think it's entirely reasonable to be concerned, and as I said other parents feel the same. But if he convinces me he can be a postive and even handed candidate, I may yet vote for him, but I need to be convinced.
Steve O October 13, 2012 at 03:17 PM
Bob Jones not only got into West Point but he also finished. Bookends of genius. "knightcomelately" where did YOU attend school?
NK WATCH October 13, 2012 at 03:39 PM
I agree, however is he planning on answering any questions on the tough issues that have been asked by soxfan and myself?
knightinshiningarmor October 13, 2012 at 05:22 PM
I'm a voter, my resume isn't at issue, and essentially that's none of your business. Mr Jones resume is impressive for sure, but doesn't ally my concerns as outlined. No need to resort to attempts at insulting me, as I said it isn't personal.
Steve O October 14, 2012 at 10:39 PM
knight, no insult was intended. I apoligize. we just need to get new people on that committee. I stated earlier in another post that Larry Ceresi and Lynda Avanzato are divisive. I say this because of various news articles when Ceresi bullied Mel Benson and when he couldnt get her to vote him back in as chair (duh) Avanzato directed the dems to meet and censor Mrs Benson which they did, sadly for our town. I feel this is almost diabolical. The elderly Mel Benson => should be respected <= and worked WITH and not against by certain members. Many people that I know were disgusted with Avanzato and Ceresi for doing that to her. One wonders if Ms Avanzato would do any better trying to get 50 peopple to sign for her than Ceresi did this year. http://northkingstown.patch.com/articles/melvoid-benson-charles-brennan-resign-from-nk-democratic-committee It is also noted that this committee has been shutting down before the public can even be heard. To those of us who have been around a while, this rings too much of the past !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bob Jones is just the change we need. He has very high qualifications.
knightinshiningarmor October 15, 2012 at 12:18 PM
With all due respect Steve O, I'm not basing my voting decision on some supposed "diabolical" plot that took place against Mrs Benson that has nothing to do with the operations of the School Board. Mrs Benson has contrubuted greatly to this community and to public service, but she isn't someone who I would vote for in any circumstances at this point. I don't want to get into it, but many parents are also concerned about her behavior at meetings, and more importantly, her votes. We do not need a change that brings about more arguments and angst on that Board. The only change I think is vital is to bring stability and calm to those meetings, and I don't see Ceresi and Avanzato as being a problem in that regard. Robert Jones might be, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, and wait and see.
SoxFan October 15, 2012 at 12:28 PM
@Steve O: Do you know if Mr. Jones has a website where voters can find out where he stands on issues as he still has not answered my questions above on the issues?Impressive resumes and what someone looks like on paper mean nothing to me. I will not get involved in the personal comments on this blog and am disappointed that we cannot even discuss the real issues. I will say that I have reviewed Mrs. Avanzato's voting record and will be voting for her based on her votes and position on the issues. We are in very difficult budgetary times and need political leaders with the courage to make very difficult choices despite the fact those decisions will not be popular. If anyone is interested, Voting records are available on the school committee website under the Boards + tab. Just click on the SC member whose voting record you wish to review.

I'm pretty sure NKGOP Watch got booted out of here. You're welcome.
