NK Man Pleads to Unemployment Insurance Fraud

Patrick Carroll owes the state nearly $12,000.

A North Kingstown man has pleaded no contest to charges that he collected nearly $12,000 in unemployment benefits under false pretenses.

Patrick T. Carroll, 46, of North Kingstown pleaded nolo contendre Tuesday in Providence Superior Court on one count of obtaining money under false pretenses. Carroll was collecting unemployment insurance benefits while employed full time.

He was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay full restitution, in the amount of $11,901 to the State of rhode Island.

Carroll reportedly failed to report his weekly earnings to the Department of Labor and Training between July 2006 and December 2011, while he was working full time for Hudson Services Inc. in Providence.
