Letter: Responsible Growth Begins with Responsible Leadership

"Responsible growth begins with responsible leadership and I urge you to get involved with the process," Ellen Waxman writes.

The favorable vote for sewers has provided a gateway for an exciting time of change for North Kingstown. Our Town Council, along with North Kingstown's boards and commissions will lead the way and make important decisions about the town's future.

It's my hope that this will be done in a way that considers public sentiment, improves our economic health, preserves our open spaces and environment, and preserves the historic character and quaint feel of Wickford and North Kingstown's eight other villages. Responsible growth begins with responsible leadership and I urge you to get involved with the process.

If you attend Town Council meetings you will become informed and have an opportunity to voice your opinion. You could also consider a more formal role as an elected official or serving on a board or commission. Contact the Deputy Town Clerk at 401-268-1550 for information on public service appointments and running for public office. The days to submit the Declaration of Candidacy application are June 23, 24, 25.
